A Well for Her Hands

A millet processing unit is now taking shape in the village which will serve as a space where women can work together, earn together, and bring dignity back to their labour. The structure is ready to rise. But no enterprise, no grain, no dream can survive without water. But their dream cannot run on hope alone. It needs water.

By supporting the construction of an open well, you are giving them more than water. You are giving them continuity, independence, and the confidence that their enterprise can thrive for years.

When the stone quarries closed to protect the forest, many families lost their only source of income. The women did not give up. They began to dream of building something new; an enterprise of their own, turning their harvests into wholesome foods: ragi flours, snacks, and health mixes that carry the taste of their land.

A Biodiversity Hub That Heals the Land

A young resident of Ragihalli has offered his litigated land to support ecological restoration and transform the land to a thriving biodiversity hub. He has committed the land for developing a biodiversity hub and invited the local women’s group to steward the plantation. This presents a unique opportunity to restore fallow land and strengthen local biodiversity. It will also pave the way for community ownership in conservation and empower women through environmental stewardship.

16 Doddi Trust will anchor and coordinate the implementation. Regardless of litigation outcomes, the land, whether retained by the youth or by the Forest Department, will ultimately support a thriving stand of native trees.

Local women will nurture 350–450 native trees, enrich the soil, protect the saplings, and rebuild the ecological buffer around Bannerghatta. This is more than a plantation. It is a community reclaiming degraded land, reviving native species, and taking ownership of conservation.

The Ragihalli Bio-Resource Centre

Organic farming in the village has a simple challenge: farmers cannot always access affordable, trustworthy organic inputs.

The Bio-Resource Centre solves this by producing everything locally: compost, natural fertilisers, pest repellents, nursery mixes created by trained village women and youth.

It becomes the backbone for five Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farms, ensuring healthy soil, steady harvests, and lower costs for farmers.

When you support the BRC, you strengthen an entire food ecosystem—from soil to farmer to the families who eat from these fields.

Support Sustainable Mobility for Our Kai Thota Community

In Ragihalli, a forest-edge village with less frequent public transport, moving essential materials between our organic farms is a daily challenge. An e-mobility two-wheeler will enable our team to transport inputs, tools, and produce quickly, safely, and sustainably.

Your support can help us overcome mobility barriers and strengthen our community-driven agroecology work. Join us in making eco-friendly mobility a reality.

Help Build a Space Where Women Can Work, Lead, and Thrive

In Ragihalli, 100 women are building a livelihood of their own by creating nutritious millet foods and running a community-owned enterprise. What they lack is a safe, functional space where they can work together, learn together, and grow their income with dignity.

The proposed women’s community building will be more than a structure.

It will be:

•    a shared workspace for food processing and training,

•    a commons where women can organise, collaborate, and lead,

•    a centre of opportunity for those who once had none.

Your support will help complete this building ensuring that women have a permanent, dignified place to run their enterprise and secure their families’ future.
